I found a picture of myself the other day. Yes, there are five little birds, so this is not a TRUE representation of my family...unless you count Chris=)))). Anyway, I often refer to my children as my little ducklings. To most outsiders looking in..(my house) on any given day, one would see me..followed by four small children at all times. Whether I am doing dishes, laundry, talking on the phone or sitting on the couch..there we are. I love it (most of the time). Today is my first day back to work after almost two weeks off. Wow, I miss my little ducks ALOT!!!! I can't wait until my working day is over, so I can be followed over the house. Go and make it a GREAT day. These men came to our house and helped Chris lay down wood floors and move furniture, without a second thought. I thank you for all your hard work and unselfishness. A huge thanks for the wives, for allowing us to use your husbands. This is the season of giving and we have received. I know that these gentlemen and women would give a hand all year round and I feel so fortunate to have all of you in my life. I love you all so much. Thanks for everything. P.S. I have a very good friend who was taking Brynn to school for me, so they remained in the vehicle until further notice. Turns out there was bomb threat. Supposedly, everthing has been cleared and students were allowed to enter buildings and go to class. Needless to say, Brynn is at home for the day. After the shootings that have been on the news and know this, I truly have to say I have such an uneasy feeling sending my children to school. We are still trying to explain to Brynn what has happened without scaring her. School is supposed to be a "safe" learning environment". Brynn asked if there were "guns" at school. I broke down in tears. Why does a six year old have to be afraid of guns in her school??? As you can tell, I am still very upset and shakened by this mornings events. The evilness that continues to infiltrate into our communities/country is unacceptable. I ask that we pray for those families that have lost loved ones due to these recent events, as well as, safety in our school systems. Thanks for listening/reading...and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

My Special Money Holder

This is my special money holder for church. type='text'>Ghosts???

I have heard many accounts of ghosts from personal friends and have always thought to myself "glad it wasn't me." As most of you may know, our house was built in 1880 and everything has been fine until about 6 months ago. Every night when I do a house check (let dog inside, lock doors, check on kiddos, etc.) my basement light is on 99% of the time. There are days when the basement door is not even opened up...therefore the light should not be on. The light switch is just high enough where the kids aren't intrigued by it. My only guess....must be a ghost. I really do not know what the explaination is. Do you believe in ghosts (spirits)?? If so, why and please share any personal experiences you may have.

Love this song

In The Middle Of Me - Todd Agnew
I just heard this song the other day by Todd Agnew. I applied for a speech pathology position through the LISD (Lenawee Intermediate School District). I am very excited, but anxious. It will be three days a week, and most likely two days through the summer. This is going to be very difficult on me to be away from the children, so I ask for constant prayer on this one. I do not want to cave, as I have done in the past, over guilt from not being home 100% of the time. Hopefully, I will be placed in Tecumseh school district, and the surrounding districts. Anyway, hope you all have a great day.

Our latest addition

This is Dash, our latest addition to the Nevins Family. Dash is really great with the children, housebroken and knows some commands, however he likes to test our authority at times.

Harley Dude

Reese received this Harley coat as gift from grandma. For those who do not know what that is....imagine 22 four and five year olds attempting to throw/roll/push a bowling ball down the lane with bumpers in the gutters. The success rate of at least hitting one pin is dramatically increased. Brett choose the heaviest ball to use. Lately he has been into "Superman" and really believes he is as strong as Superman, so you can imagine how his ball went rolling down the lane. I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with him. Thank you God for these opportunities. My day has already been blessed.

Update

I just received word that Joyce (Ricks mother) has passed. I have made previous attempts with Reese, but it never took. We are trying again and today has been very successful. Tootsie Rolls are a great thing. He is even wearing underwear and initiating using the toilet on his own. Maybe I should state that if the boy is naked he will use the toilet all the time, so the challenge is wearing underwear and initiating. I know this this sounds silly, but please pray for success this time. Thanks for reading my challenge of the week. Valentines day is coming up, so I want to ask all of you..

1. How did you met your significant other???

2. How did you know that your spouse was "the one"?

1. For me, I met "Mac Daddy" on a blind date on Labor Day weekend of '95. We continued to date from then on, were engaged in 1yr. and 3 mo., and married after knowing each other for 3 years.

2. After three months of dating, there was no question in my mind that I wanted to marry Chris. He was/is truly an amazing man...generous, loving, giving, encouraging, humble, soft-spoken, kind, trusting, honest, and handsome. I could go on and on, but I know we will be together until death parts us, because we have God on our side.

I found this picture while looking up lyrics for "I can only imagine" by Mercy ME. It is over both small things (Lord, please help me find a shoe) to larger things (Chris' buisness). What is amazing is the peace that I feel after praying. This is an area of my spiritual walk that I am attempting to improve. God needs to hear our joys and sorrows...so let us not forget Him while we are on the mountain top. Often times our human pride may step in and forget the climb was not because of us, but because of Him. The challenging times strenthen our resolve and transform our character to be more like Christ.

Phil 4:6-7
6(A)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by (B)prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

7And (C)the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will (D)guard your hearts and your (E)minds in (F)Christ Jesus.

Trinity Skye is ONE!!!!

Well, my baby is ONE. This one shall be no different. Most of my stories are Reese related...those that know Reese know why. He is in the habit of taking off his diaper after he has pooped and running to the bathroom. While the kids and I were over visiting Laura (Wowgirl) during our weekly get together, he decided to do this. We had just made macoroni and cheese for the kids for lunch, and then I see the bare butt running to the bathroom. A few moments later, Laura states, "Oh, that's not macoroni and cheese on the bottom of my foot". What are friends for???? As a child, I was aware of her attendance at church weekly, that she was in the choir and participated in several church events. It wasn't until recently that I really "GOT IT". I truly understand her love for our Lord. That is an amazing thing. I have just learned that her favorite Psalm is 23:
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Got Milk or Darth Baby

Originally, Trinity was going to become a pumpkin for Halloween, but I'm truly torn between "Got Milk Baby" or "Darth Baby". Chris, I and the children were driving towards Platt Rd. on Washtenaw Ave. when we saw this sign that read something like this: Warning..disturbing partial abortion pics ahead. For about 1/4 mile there were about 10 pics of a baby who was victim of partial abortion. This was really disturbing for Chris and I, but the most disturbing occurance was when Brynn asked why they were holding pics. of a baby. Fortunately, she did not catch the grusome details that were displayed. I understand the point being made, however that was not the place...where small children were subjected to these pictures. Talking to Laura about this, she made the point that after the loss of their first baby, these pics reopen those wounds....the babies looked very similar...and this was not her choice. The tactics used were very inappropriate and hurtful. Waking children up, feeding them breakfast, getting them dressed, ect... times three 1/2. Brynn is independent, I just have to give her timely reminders. It was time to take Brett to preschool and we could not find one of his shoes..looked everwhere in the house, in the car....not to be found. I'm frantic, because I do not like to be late anywhere and if I did not find this shoe, we were going to be late. I stopped what I was doing, and said "God please help me find this shoe" and when I opened my eyes, there it was. God is Good. He works in large and small ways, and this morning was just an example of the small, but grateful ways. Thank You God for all you do. It wouldn't even turn over.

Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the "quickie mart" building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay. When I got there, it looked more like she had been overcome by sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her. It was a nickel.

At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat), and the gas pump reading $4.95.

I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help, and she just kept saying "I don't want my kids to see me crying," so we stood on the other side of the pump from her car. She said she was driving to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />California and that things were very hard for her right now.

So I asked, "And you were praying?" That made her back away from me a little but I assured her I was not a crazy person and said, "He heard you, and He sent me."

I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fueling walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food, some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She gave the food to the kids in the car who attacked it like wolves, and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little.

She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City. Her ! boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet. She knew she wouldn't have money to pay rent Jan 1, and finally in desperation had finally called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years. They lived in California and said she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there. So she packed up everything she owned in the car. She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas, but not that they were going to live there.

I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road. As I was walking over to my car, she said, "So, are you like an angel or something?"

This definitely made me cry. I said, "Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people." It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it started right away and got me
home with no problem. I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check, but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong. "

Sometimes angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings.

Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

There is no cost but a lot of rewards, let's continue to pray for one another.

Here is the prayer:
"Father, I ask You to bless my children, grandchildren, friends, relatives and email buddies reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy.

Where there is self doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace, In Jesus' precious name. Amen."
Being blessed is GOOD...being HIGHLY FAVORED is best!

Don't settle!

Four Leaf K"lover says: I believe there are angels doing God's work daily. Last week, I was taking Reese to the doc. and when I left the house my shirt was spotless. Took some coffee with me and dribble, dribble....... I have come to the realization that a clean shirt for me is impossible. In fact one time we were on our way to the zoo, and Chris drove through a mud puddle and guess where all the mud ended up...yup, right on my shirt. The window was cracked only 1/2 in. Although these are not children related incidence, most of my spots are from them...and since there are four, myself and a husband, I go through alot of Spray-N-Wash. So if you see me coming...don't look for the spots!!!!!!!

My grandma

As some of you know, my grandma is terminal. As most of you know, Jill has a nose earring, which was a hot debate subject...DEP was involved. How do you clean it?, etc. Reese decided he wanted momma and was sitting between Jill and I when he blurted out "What's that?", referring to her earring. A few minutes later he expelled some gas from his bottom and looked at Jill and said "oohh", which was really funny. Poor Jill. Again, a few minutes later he stood in front of the small group and expelled again. I guess what I am trying to say is that is was really nice to have a few laughs amoung family last night. I think women tend to worry more then men, or at least "show it more". BBT

We often think of great faith as something that happens spontaneously so that we can be used for a miracle or healing. However, the greatest faith of all, and the most effective, is to live day by day trusting Him. It is trusting Him so much that we look at every problem as an opportunity to see His work in our life. It is not worrying, but rather trusting and abiding in the peace of God that will crush anything that Satan tries to do to us. If the Lord created the world out of chaos, He can easily deal with any problem that we have.

Rick Joyner
MorningStar Ministries

Growing Up

Well, Brynn begins kindergarden this fall....in 20 days. This is such a bitter-sweet moment for me as a mom. It is such a huge milestone in her life, and mine. I am "grieving" for my little girl, my toddler, my baby. As I write this tears are streaming down my face. I never imagined how difficult this would be for me. She has been and continues to be such a blessing to us. There is so much for us to look forward to. Wow, my parents used to tell me "you're growing up"..."you're grown up"....but I think it takes having your very own children to realize the impact. Well, we have a new board this year, with only a few of us as returning board members. Tues. was a board meeting and a huge part of the agenda was our budget. Things were getting a little tense and I almost blurted out "let's pray". It was so natural, however I felt as though I was in the Twilight Zone, because I actually was evaluating the people on the board and decided that most of them would not go for this. How sad. I know if I was amoung my church family, this would have been so welcomed. I feel so fortunate to have you guys and gails. Chris, I and the kids, along with his parents and sister went to Michigan Adventure Park (the water park portion) and had a blast. The water park is really geared for little ones, however Brynn was going on some of the adult rides with no fear. She was a daredevil. I had to keep telling myself that if she could do it, so could I. I recommend the park for anyone, especially with little ones. We drove up Fri. night, stayed in a hotel, and went to the park Sat. Morning, and then drove back home Sat. night. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I am beginning to wonder why I am still shocked to see him. The only way to access my electric meter is through the fence and around to the side of my house. I think he needs to wear a shirt that reads "I'm the electric man, do not be afraid", for those already stressed out moms. My initial reaction is to grab my children and duck. "Why??" I ask myself. This happens monthly. Anyway, I will work through this to. Growing up as a Catholic did not encourage as much personal growth as I felt that I needed. In fact, Chris and I were so discouraged that we stopped going to church altogether, except Christmas and Easter. Then our good friends Sam and Laura invited us to come to Church of Christ. Even then I was wasn't sure about this church. I wasn't used to all of the singing that went on. I am so glad that we decided to become members of Church of Christ and now New Song, because our independence to worship as we feel we need to has increased beyond belief. I even held my hands up (partially=)) during one of the services. That is alot for me to do. This was a step out in faith, and trusting my husband that he was leading us in the direction he felt that God wanted us to go.

Worship

I just want to say that I really missed all of you this past Sun. We have the opportunity to worship our God with great people, fellowship with wonderful people and hear inspiring messages from a very gifted man. Most of the people have smiles on their faces and are happy to see you and vice versa. You feal really awesome when you leave. Then the world hits you in the face. I'm still smiling and people look at me like "what do you have to be happy about?". Anyway, I usually have a smile on my face and must remember that the people who don't smile or say hello back, need the smile even more. As DEP would say BBT.

Peaceful moment

This morning was an awesome morning. Chris and I were talking about work, and in the meantime Reese destroyed a pair of Chris' sunglasses. Chris became very angry and I could see that he was having a tough morning (before the sunglass incident). He mentioned in passing that he did not pray this morning. So I said "lets' pray together". He sat down across from me, we held hands and he prayed aloud. I could feel the Holy Spirit working, and wave of peace. The household is more peaceful now. Kodiaks blog yesterday really has me thinking (uh-oh), and we took a time-out from insanity to worship our Lord, at what a difference. I would love to share some of mine, but Chris has me beat in this skilled department, so I will share with you (I have his permission). It all began ten years ago when Chris and I went out on a blind date with a group of friends. We volunteered to go to the store for a few items and as we approached the check out counter, Chris dropped two-one gallon milk jugs on the floor and the cartons broke of course, all over me=). This weekend did consist of jet skiing. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Another incident that is overwhelming remenicent is when Chris walked into the door jam at our house on Center Dr. We had been living there for a few months and he was on the computer at night, he was "temporarily blinded" when he shut the lights and gave a self-inflicted black eye. The most common question at the time was "Was this a domestic dispute?" What are your moments??? There are more with Chris, but I'll leave that for another time.

Another Prayer Request

I have another good friend who found out yesterday that her youngest brother was deployed to Bagdad. Yesterday may have been a big turn around for us. He had one commercial bid accepted (it's a small job, but a start), and it looks like the assisted living job may come through very soon. There is a big meeting today to determine if the General contrator and owner of Cambrian (assisted living behind Tec. Plywood) are going to bring in outside contrators (Chris) to help "catch them up". Please pray for Chris and our family, as the struggle has been very long and difficult. We do understand that God won't give us more than we can handle. My three year old was doing headstands on my couch and I told him that I prefer him to perform his acrobats on the floor. He continued to ignore me, so my voice became stern and Brett sat down on the couch and looked at me with a very serious face and told me that "The Boss" (Darth Vader) told him to do it. What an imagination....and of course I couldn't help but laugh. Now, "The Boss" is blamed for many things around here.

Family Time

Well, I have officially entered the Blogging World.........
Chris, the children and I had a wonderful mini-vacation in South Haven, Mi. The weather was beautiful and the water was freezing:) The kids fell asleep on the beach, buying mom and dad some quiet time. The only true mishap was that I left my wallet in a gas station bathroom in Marshall. Thanks Be To God, that there are still honest people in the world and my wallet was turned into the police dept., everything still there, including cash. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July..Happy Birthday Swinging Sammy.
